Three sheds at the former Aurel shipyard have been turned into workspace for 40 small companies, from furniture makers to software developers.

The Yard opened in January and is already three-quarters full. Desks rent from £150 a month, and workshops with power and loading doors from £600.

The project was paid for jointly by the council and a local pension fund, which expects a modest return over 15 years.
