Polling stations across the Aurel Valley opened at 7am, with officials expecting the highest turnout since the district boundaries were redrawn. More than 410,000 people are registered to vote.

Early queues formed outside schools in Northgate and Riverside. Postal votes were also up, with nearly a quarter of voters asking for one.

Polls close at 10pm. The count takes place at the Exhibition Hall, and the first results are expected from about 2am.
