Millbrook Cricket Club has opened a new pavilion, eight months after floodwater destroyed the old one.

Members raised £85,000, much of it from a weekly cake stall and a sponsored walk along the valley. The new building stands on stilts, a metre above last year’s flood level.

The club says membership has grown by a third since the flood, as people from nearby villages came to help.
